J Nitro Premier Tee

For fast establishing durable and sustainable shade tolerant tees and pathways - Enhanced with ProNitro®

J Nitro Premier Tee builds on the proven performance of J Premier Tee, now enhanced with ProNitro®, an industry-leading hydroactive seed treatment designed to deliver faster, stronger and more uniform establishment. This makes J Nitro Premier Tee the ultimate solution for high-wear golf tees, shaded tee complexes, and heavily trafficked pathways where rapid recovery and reliable establishment are essential.

ProNitro® combines controlled-release nitrogen with a moisture-active coating, ensuring improved germination even under challenging conditions such as shade, compaction, low temperatures and reduced irrigation. The result is a denser, more resilient sward that establishes quickly and withstands heavy play with fewer inputs. The core mixture remains identical to J Premier Tee, a powerful blend of 4turf® tetraploid perennial ryegrasses, fine perennial rye, strong creeping red fescue and shade-tolerant Rough Stalked Meadow Grass - providing exceptional wear tolerance, disease resistance, close-mown performance and visual quality. J Nitro Premier Tee therefore offers all the strengths of the original mixture, plus a significant establishment and performance advantage thanks to ProNitro®.

The Power of Botanical Balance

The spring of 2025 was the hottest and driest on record. Four heatwaves, rainfall 40% below the average and soaring evapotranspiration have left reservoirs low and much of England officially in drought. For turf managers, this isn’t a one-off challenge — it’s the new pattern. Fairways, in particular, have taken a hit with heavy traffic and hydrophobic ‘dry patch’ soils slowing recovery and reducing the overseeding window. Beneath the surface, next season’s outcomes are already being decided so what can you do create surfaces than not only survive, but thrive? Stuart Yarwood, Regional Technical Manager at DLF Seeds explores.

Determination, teamwork and Johnsons Sports Seed overcomes destruction at Thorndon Park

It’s every greenkeeper’s worst nightmare – to receive a call informing them of vandalism on the course. That nightmare was the unfortunate reality for David Byron of Thorndon Park who returned from BTME 2025 to discover the ‘destruction’ of six greens, three tees and numerous fairways. With sheer determination, a concerted team effort and the outstanding recovery demonstrated by mixtures from across the Johnsons Sports Seed range, the surfaces were fit and ready for club championships just a few short months later.
